FAQ
Roof Repair questions, answered.
Straight answers for Richmond homes and businesses. Can't see yours? Ask us.
Is Richmond Roof Repair a roof repair company?
No. Richmond Roof Repair is a website that publishes local guidance and passes enquiries to independent providers, who do the work and set their own prices. Read how referrals work for the full explanation.
How does the referral process work?
You send an enquiry describing your roof problem. We pass it to an independent provider where one is available, who contacts you, assesses the roof and quotes. Any contract is between you and the provider. See the referral disclosure for details.
Does it cost anything to send an enquiry?
Sending an enquiry doesn't commit you to anything. Any charge for the work comes from the provider, who sets the price. The referral disclosure page explains how the site operates.
How much does a roof repair cost in Richmond?
We don't publish prices because we have no verified figures from local companies. Cost depends on roof type, size, access, the extent of damage and materials. Get written quotes from providers and compare the scope.
Do I need a permit to repair my roof in Richmond?
Generally not for a house. The City of Richmond lists installing, replacing or repairing roofing among work that does not need a building permit, though it must still meet the BC Building Code. Large strata projects and structural changes can differ, so confirm with the City's building department.
What should a roofer in BC have before starting work?
Ask for proof of liability insurance and WorkSafeBC coverage, and a written quote and warranty. WorkSafeBC enforces fall protection for roofing work, and its clearance letter tool shows whether a firm is in good standing.
When is the best time to get my Richmond roof checked?
Richmond gets about 1,100 mm of rain a year, mostly in the wetter months. Early autumn checks before the rain, and checks after winter storms, are common. Dry summer months are the main season for larger jobs.
Can I choose which provider I use?
You decide whether to go ahead with any provider who contacts you. You can ask questions, compare quotes and decline. We pass on your enquiry, but the choice to hire is yours.
Do you cover Ladner?
Yes, we list Ladner, but it is a community in the City of Delta, not part of Richmond. Delta's own rules apply there, and not every provider serves it. Tell us your location when you enquire.
Will a repair affect my warranty or home insurance?
It can. A manufacturer's shingle warranty or a new home warranty may have conditions about who does the work. Check your documents and call your insurer or warranty provider before arranging repairs.
